Cagliari or bust.

Our last port of call is Cagliari, which is the capital of the Italian Island of Sardinia, only about 20 or so miles away from Corsica, where we called earlier in the cruise, and indeed both look very similar, Sardinia is quite a bit bigger, but doest look to be as hilly certainly from where we are. The town itself is made up of two parts, the old part which was a walled town perched on the top of a hill, and then as the town has grown in Importance it has spread outwards,  and now is quite a large urbanisation.

Our first project was to find a tat shop, to get the memorabilia for this leg of our trip, and with it being a Sunday I a mainly Catholic country, we thought that could have been a bigger problem thhsn it turned out to be. As we only arrived here at 12 noon we then opted to try out one of the local restaurants, I tried a frid fish platter and grilled veg, and Perdita had mashed potato and mint ravioli and a side salad.

After lunch we headed up to the walled old town where most of the things we wanted to see are. We started at the top with the Cathedral, it certainly isn't the biggest Cathedral we have seen , but to be fair it makes it no less impressive, from there we dropped down to a little terrace viewpoint overlooking  the Bastions Saint Remy from the back, then zig zagged the narrow streets down to the Bastions and beyond to the municipal gardens.

We then set of back to the boat calling for an ice cream on the way, today isn't the hottest day we have had but it certainly feels like it is, maybe us oldies can't take the pace any more🤣🤣.

We are at sea tomorrow so won't get any internet, so I wanted to get these two blogs posted before I forget where we have been.

Pongo and Perdita signing off for today.
